PB&J Banana Bites

Jump to Recipe

Introducing a delightful treat that's sure to become a household favorite – PB&J Banana Bites! This recipe combines familiar ingredients in a fun and unexpected way, creating a treat that's perfect for kids and the young at heart.

To start, grab your jar of creamy peanut butter and scoop out a generous dollop. Spread it onto one banana chip, ensuring a smooth and creamy layer. On another banana chip, layer your favorite grape jelly or strawberry preserves, offering a burst of fruity goodness.

But what's a treat without a touch of chocolate? Incorporate semi-sweet chocolate morsels and unsalted butter. In a microwave-safe bowl, watch as the chocolate morsels transform into a silky, decadent delight. With each 30-second interval, they meld together, ready to coat your banana bites in chocolatey goodness.

For an added twist, sprinkle crushed pretzel minis onto the freshly dipped banana bites. These pretzels provide a satisfying crunch and a hint of saltiness, perfectly balancing the sweetness and adding a playful element to the treat.

Once your PB&J Banana Bites are all dressed up, chill them in the refrigerator for about thirty minutes. This step ensures the chocolate sets perfectly, and the bites are cool and refreshing when you're ready to enjoy.

Directions:

  1. Slice banana into 1/4-inch thick coins, discard the ends.
  2. Take a banana chip and spread about 1 teaspoon of peanut butter onto it.  On another banana chip spread 1 teaspoon of jelly and sandwich the two pieces so that the peanut butter and jelly touch.  Place finished sandwiches on a parchment line sheet tray.
  3. Pour the entire bag of chocolate morsels into a microwave safe bowl and heat in 30 second intervals until chocolate is melted and is smooth. Add butter to the chocolate and mix until incorporated.
  4. While the chocolate is warm, dip half the banana sandwich into chocolate and return to sheet tray.  Repeat with the remaining bananas.  Sprinkle crushed pretzels onto chocolate dipped bananas and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
