Campfire S'mores Crispy Treats

Jump to Recipe

Looking for a sweet treat that brings back memories of sitting around a campfire? These delicious campfire s'mores crispy treats should do the trick. Made with simple ingredients that are probably already in your pantry this recipe is sure to become a new family favorite.

Without a doubt, the star of the show is the ooey, gooey marshmallows, which are melted down and combined with butter and crispy rice cereal to create the perfect texture. Add in the honey graham crackers and milk chocolate and it takes these crispy treats to the next level.

To start, make a buttery graham cracker crust by crushing up the graham crackers and mixing them with melted butter and sugar. This creates a solid base for the rest of the ingredients to sit on. Once the crust is baked and slightly cooled, sprinkle the chopped milk chocolate over the top and let it start to melt into the crust.

Next comes the crispy rice cereal, which is combined with more crushed graham crackers in a large bowl. The remaining stick of butter is browned and then combined with a bag of marshmallows to create the sticky, sweet mixture that will hold everything together. This mixture is then poured over the cereal and graham cracker mixture and stirred until fully combined.

But the fun doesn't stop there! Once everything is in the baking dish, you'll add in even more marshmallows that have been cut into thirds. These will get nice and toasty under the broiler, creating that classic campfire marshmallow flavor. Once they're golden brown, you'll sprinkle on the remaining chopped chocolate and let everything cool before slicing and enjoying.

These campfire s'mores crispy treats are the perfect dessert for any occasion, whether you're enjoying them in the great outdoors or just in the comfort of your own home. With the combination of sweet marshmallows, crunchy cereal and rich chocolate, they're sure to please anyone with a sweet tooth. And don't forget to follow the recipe tips, like lightly wetting your hands to keep the mixture from sticking and watching the marshmallows carefully to avoid burning.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Prepare an 8x8-inch baking dish by rubbing the butter wrapper along the edges and bottom.
  2. In a medium pot, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Pour into a small bowl.
  3. Finely crush the graham crackers. Add 1 cup of crushed graham crackers and the sugar to the melted butter and stir to combine. Press in the prepared baking dish firmly. Bake for 5-6 minutes.
  4. Remove graham cracker crust from oven and top with 3/4 of the chopped chocolate. As the chocolate starts to melt, gently spread evenly over the crust. Reserve.
  5. In a large bowl, add cereal and remaining crushed graham crackers.
  6. In a medium pot, brown the remaining stick of butter over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and add 1 bag of marshmallows, stirring until fully melted and combined. Remove from heat and pour over cereal mixture, stirring to combine. Transfer mixture to the baking dish and press evenly.
  7. Cut the remaining 2 cups of marshmallows in thirds and add to crispy treats. Turn the oven to broil and toast the tops of the marshmallows until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining 1/4 chopped chocolate. Allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Tip #1: Lightly wet hand with water to keep from sticking when pressing down the crispy treats.
Tip #2: Watch the marshmallows carefully as they will burn quickly.
