Bacon Wrapped Baked Apples with Dipping Sauce

Bacon Wrapped Baked Apples with Bourbon Caramel Dipping Sauce

A fun fusion of classic apple dishes all wrapped up in bacony goodness.

  1. For the caramel sauce: In a small saucepan, whisk brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup and bourbon until combined. Bring to a boil and cook until a thick syrup forms, about 8-12 minutes. Whisk butter and cream into mixture until combined. Keep warm until needed.
  2. Preheat oven to 350˚.
  3. For the apples: Place bacon on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 11 minutes or until cooked half way through. Remove and allow to cool slightly.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine butter, nutmeg, cloves and sugar. Microwave until butter is melted. Add apples to mixture, toss until coated. Top bacon with remaining sugar mixture.
  5. Increase oven to 400˚. Wrap apple slices in bacon and place seam side down on baking sheet. Bake for 9 minutes or until bacon is crispy. Allow to cool, serve with side of caramel sauce for dipping.
